WHY?

WHY

If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Matthew 16.24

Service that God delights in comes from a pure heart. The motivation must be to serve God, rather than something within oneself. This godly motive produces endurance through difficulties and disappointments.

The reason why we serve as a mission is in obedience to God. That brings Him glory. It is God alone who works and saves, so we do not emphasise individual people. And so, a selfless heart is vital in mission.

With a pure heart, Christ's church is called to administer the gifts that they have received. Serving God, then, is to use all that God has given, for His glory alone. Therefore, no gifts or abilities should be the source of boasting, as all are apportioned by God.

Home - lost (2).jpg

LOST?

There is a view that most of the world has already heard the Gospel. However, as the world population sky rockets, the need to preach the Gospel to the lost is now larger than ever.

Jesus told a parable of a person who had one hundred sheep and one was lost. He challenged those listening:

Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?

Luke 15.4

To search for lost sheep is hard work. Searching can often take a long time and be through unfamiliar and dangerous places. It would be easier to stay back with the majority.

But the heart of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is to care for each one, not neglecting any. Likewise, the hearts of Jesus' followers should be of the same attitude.

It is with that conviction that SCI especially seeks to reach people that have never heard the gospel before. There are still nations that have no knowledge of God, no Bible, no church, and thus, no hope. We are utterly dependent on God to work amongst such people.

THE MAIN MINISTRY

God says the preaching of God's Word is essential:

How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" [...] So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Romans 10.14-15, 17

NOT A PREACHER?

The Bible says that God gave some people to be evangelists (Ephesians 4.11). What of those who aren't? Are they excluded from service to God in reaching the lost? Definitely not! Rather, each person is called to administer the gifts that God has given them, in accordance with his word.

For that reason, SCI consists of people with various gifts and backgrounds, working together so that each is playing their part in the advancement of the Gospel to the lost.

What we do - where 2 (2)_edited.jpg
WHERE

The charity operates in or for people in countries where there is opposition to Christianity. When engaged in the work, at best, antagonism can be experienced and, at worst, persecution. Consequently, the identities of the organisations outside of the UK, with which SCI works, cannot be disclosed. However, the charity actively promotes the spread of Christianity in several countries in Asia, Europe and America.

WHERE?

THE WORK
Get Involved - Volunteer (2).jpg

THE WORK

All the work is done by God's people who serve as volunteers. Field workers look to God to support them in the work by members of the Body of Christ and local expressions of such, and are individually accountable to these people.

SCI, then, is a ministry which operates as part of the Body of Christ. Body of Christ means God's people, whom Christ died for, who belong to Him.

We offer churches and all kinds of Christian groups Bible teaching on a wide range of subjects related to prayer and mission.

Preaching to the lost and winning disciples to Christ

Every opportunity is sought to do this using all means. Whether by meetings, one-to-one,  YouTube videos or other means, we endeavour to preach to anyone, anywhere, regardless of culture, ethnicity or gender.

LITERATURE

- Promoting access to the Bible and Christian Literature for non-English speaking people in their own country and language.

- Supporting the translation of the Bible into an increasing number of languages and scripts.

EVANGELISM

- Supporting the production of Bible-teaching videos, by native believers, to a people group who are in spiritual darkness. The messages assume no prior knowledge of the Bible. The videos receive a large number of viewers.

- Engaging with UK and international students about the Gospel.

MINISTRY

- Mentoring Christians around the world via video call, email, and face to face contact.

- Supporting online ministry globally.

- Providing Biblical ministry through speaking engagements and conferences.
